First post! For those of you who don’t know me, I will try to work on an “About Me” section when I have time. For now, just know that I’m a 2012 Mississippi Delta Corps Member, placed to teach high school Spanish in south central Arkansas.
It’s been a crazy few days. Induction started on Tuesday afternoon and I’ve been extremely busy attending sessions, meeting new people (from all over the country!), and getting used to Delta State University. Tomorrow is the last day of Induction and Institute starts on Sunday. It almost feels like there’s too much going on for me to retain the things I’ve learned. Although it’s incredibly tiring, it’s been extremely positive. Today we traveled to Helena, Arkansas to visit a placement site. We listened to community members and TFA alumni.
Memorable quote from our community visit: “As an MTLD, I don’t have the power to fire you, but I can cut you… with a knife.”
No worries, it’s definitely a positive atmosphere here. I only felt threatened a little bit
I am looking forward to what comes next. I’m sure I’ll have more to say and hopefully some pictures to share.
